Discovering Masseria Bannata

Characteristics of the company

Masseria "Bannata" from the arabic word meaning "land kissed by the sun" is located in the Enna district. By decree n. 3597 of 17 May 2016 issued by the Regional Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries of the Mediterranean, the company has been classified with four "spighe", the highest level of quality in Sicily for farms.
Recently the Ministry for Agricultural Policies has given to the Masseria another recognition by attributing the national classification of "Cinque girasoli". This conferral makes the Masseria Bannata unique in Sicily.
The 19th century Masseria, built with a local stone typical of the Sicilian hinterland, stands near a pre-existent 18th century rural building once house of shepherds and cattle. Located in the heart of Sicily, the Masseria Bannata, close to the major Sicilian towns and few kilometers from the important archaeological sites of Piazza Armerina, Morgantina, Enna and Calascibetta. It is the ideal place to spend an intelligent holiday in the island. Even reaching the sea from inland has an unique charm.
